There will be no formal or informal events on opening day. Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan said Prime Minister Narendra Modi showed special concern over this purple line and directed officials of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) to launch it immediately. In a post inauguration with VIP presence. “
The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS) had already inspected the newly constructed KR Puram – Baiyappanahalli and Kengeri – Challaghatta lines. Both purple line metro sections received safety clearance and CMRS approval.
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya recently criticized the Congress-led state government for continued delays in the launch of the KR Puram-Baiyappanahalli metro line. “Around 5 to 6 lakh people use the Bengaluru metro every day. Around 50-60 per cent of this number will get benefits if the Baiyappanahalli-KR Puram metro section is opened. The state government, despite receiving all the approvals and green signals from CMRS, after its inspection, is still delaying the opening of this line,” Surya said.
He also said, “However, the state government is not opening operations to the public just because it is waiting for Rahul Gandhi or some other Congress leader to come and inaugurate this project.”
Once inaugurated, the Purple Line is expected to improve public transport in Bengaluru as Whitefield has numerous IT parks and employees from various parts of the city work there.
