PUNE At least 20 tourists were injured after a bee attack while visiting Rajgad Fort near Velhe in Pune district.

According to the police, the incident took place near Suvela Machi in the early hours of Sunday morning.

According to police officials, a total of 50 tourists in four to five different groups from Pune and Mumbai visited Rajgad Fort over the weekend. When they were near Suvela Machi they were attacked by honey bees. Four or five tourists lose consciousness after being stung by numerous bees.

One of the victims called emergency services, so local police and Pune Zilla Parishad medical teams immediately rushed to the scene.

After initial medication, all the tourists were taken back to the base station, officials said.

Ranjeet Pathare, assistant police inspector at Velha police station, said, “Four-five groups from Pune and Mumbai visited the fort on Sunday and were attacked by bees. “At least 20 were injured and all are now stable after receiving medication.”

Police, district administration and taluka health officer rushed to the spot to assess the incident.
